Seeking Help How to Gain Support Without Breaking Rules?

Hey AffiliateFix community!

First off, huge thanks for having such an active and welcoming forum—I've been lurking for a couple of days and already feel like there's a ton of gold here for someone like me who's just dipping their toes into affiliate marketing. I'm Agustodonasiano, a complete newbie with zero experience, but I'm motivated because I need to start generating some side income pretty soon (bills don't pay themselves, right?). That said, I really want to play by the rules and contribute positively, not step on any toes.

I've read the forum guidelines on the main page, but some parts are still a bit fuzzy for a total beginner like me. Could some of you veterans (or mods) chime in with quick clarifications? Specifically:

  1. Rules Overview for Newbies: What are the top 3-5 rules I should laser-focus on to avoid accidentally breaking them? For example, I see sections like "Introductions" and "Newbie Helpdesk," but I'm not sure if cross-posting questions or sharing resources in the wrong spot could get me in hot water.
  2. Asking for Help Without Soliciting: I'm in a spot where I need practical advice to get started (like basic setup tips or free resources), but I don't want it to come across as me trying to sell or recruit anyone. How do you recommend phrasing questions or starting threads to get genuine help while keeping it 100% non-salesy? Any examples of "do's and don'ts" from your experience?
  3. Appropriate Links to Share: When discussing strategies or sharing what I've tried, what kinds of links are cool to drop? For instance:
    • Educational stuff like free guides or tools (e.g., a link to a YouTube tutorial)?
    • My own affiliate links (and if so, only in certain sections)?
    • Or should I stick to no links at all until I'm more established?
I just want to add value without spamming.

Appreciate any pointers—I'm here to learn, network, and eventually share back once I get my feet under me. Looking forward to your wisdom!

Cheers,
Agustodonasiano
(P.S. If there's a better section for this post, let me know—happy to move it!)

Hi, Agustodonasiano, welcome to AffiliateFix!

I need to start generating some side income pretty soon
Despite what some gurus might tell you, affiliate marketing pretty much never provides instant profit or overnight riches. It's a business that has to be learned, worked and grown, like any other. The pay off is that once you get really good at it, you can make a good living.

Could some of you veterans (or mods) chime in with quick clarifications? Specifically:
Sure!

I'm not sure if cross-posting questions or sharing resources in the wrong spot could get me in hot water.
There are very few exceptions to cross-posting, i.e. if an approved vendor is looking to hire an employee, they might post in their listing or business account (Business Centre) as well as in the Industry Employment forum.

Asking the same question in multiple forums is not good, please don't do that. Select one forum, as close to the subject matter as you can to start the thread. If a staff member notices that it is in the wrong forum, or would do better in a different forum, we usually will move it for you and mention that we did in the thread.

I'm in a spot where I need practical advice to get started (like basic setup tips or free resources)
Asking for help is strongly encouraged. I don't know how that would come across as sales-y. It's the whole reason AffiliateFix exists. ;)

As for free resources....you won't find any seasoned marketers recommend them for the most part. I'm referring to hosting, tracking tools and such. Of course there's always social platforms that can do well if done right. i.e. YouTube, FB, etc. If you have a targeted following it can go faster but make sure you familiarize yourself with what the platforms permit before posting any links or ads, to avoid problems.

Here's a basic foundational read for you: START HERE This will tell you a lot, including terms, lingo, suggestions, etc.

Perfect, that's exactly what we do here! :)

Hope that helps. Any more questions, just ask.
