Hi all and Hi Linda~,

As i am starting my own affiliate blog, just think many out there is really puzzle about the things that need to be aware of choosing a hosting company.

so far i come across hostgator-http://www.hostgator.com/shared.shtml and find it quite helpful with customer service. but not to sure how they really good in support service?

*Briefly write down my own requirement for the blog
- this is my first blog
- expected visitor about amount of 400-500
- planning to do my own digital product later on ( probably will be some time later)
- web pages ( unsure but to start should have around 20 pages)

2 question here:
1) any idea what disaster will happen if choose a wrong hosting company
2) what criteria we need to take into consideration when choosing a hosting package?

another side question, some mention that if you did not quickly continue your contract with the domain company they will sell your domain off?then u need to get another one?

*Anyone has question for hostgator, what i would suggest is you use their live
chat service, so far is quite helpful.

I have done a few question post here( and i foresee i will be actively involve in 5 star later- will be my turn to do advice that time:p)

thanks& regards,
Joey

On your domain registration question. Most reliable registrars will notify you several times before your registrations expires. You should renew it before it expires. Also most reliable host will still allow you to renew it after it expires during a period that is usually 30 days but I have seen it as long as 45 days. However it will cost you much more to renew during that period. While you could have renewed it before it expired for less than $9.00 it would cost about $80 during that period after it expires. It you don't renew it during that period then someone else could get your domain name. It is best to renew before it expires.

A reliable registrar will send you email notifications starting at 90 days before your domain name registration expires. They will send a few at various times as the expirations gets closer and will also send you a notice by regular mail letting you that it is about to expire.

It is very important that you select a good registrar. Here is a link that could be helpful to you in making that selection http://affiliate-marketing-forums.5...rite-registrar-do-you-use-high-price-one.html
