I get 2,000 hits per month, yet my CTR is less than 1%, what can I do to make some more money from affiliate links. They are shown prominently yet no one clicks.

In most cases the problem stems from the wording on the call to action. You can say the exact same thing in two or more ways and get completely different reactions for each. Want an example?
Walk up to your wife and tell her that when you look at her, time stands still, she will love you for it. Now, tell her she has a face that stops a clock and she is liable to use the clock to ring your bell.
