History of a Domain ownership

I am wondering if it's possible to find out who used to own a domain name. The domain in question is now available once again but I need to find out the details of who owned the name in 2006 / 2007.

More importat question is: What was the previous website on this domain? .You also must check the domain history - is it blacklisted? Or does it has any spam links?
