Hello from a newbie!

I'm really looking forward to learning affiliate marketing. Currently I work in the mortgage industry but would like another income stream. I am really passionate about food and cooking and it would be great to be able to work it with Affiliate marketing. I realize it is not get rich quick but rather something that will take time to build. I came across this forum from an online search, and it seems like a good place to get started and learn from those already making a living from Affiliate marketing.

Welcome! You will often here that one should work with something they know or are passionate about. There are plenty of merchants with affiliate programs that include food, books (cooking, recipies), cookware, even chef clothing. That might be a good place to start.
