Domain name for landing page?

How important is the domain name for a landing page?

Can I use any name like domain-I-own.com/landingPage ?

Or does the domain have to the related to the offer like offertype.com/landing Page

What about testing? Should I register a new domain related to my offer?

When you can find domain names on sale for 99 cents (the first year), why wouldn't you want to have a chance it would get some natural traffic from Google?

If i were you i would stick to a domain name relevant to the product i am promoting.
If you dont want to spend even a dime check out freenom for free domains
You wont get mainstream TLD's though.
