When you use private domain registration you can prevent unwanted solicitation (and protect yourself/your family from potential stalkers) as your private information such as home address/phone number are not displayed in the WHOIS databases.

Do you use this option when buying a new domain?

Do you make the WHOIS private or leave it public?

Well I have never really been bothered about it but since Jimmy decided to go and try to stalk me, find out where I live etc; I am considering adding a whoisgard to all of my domains.

Well I recommend private registration. It's not generally necessary to let the general public know where you live, your email address and phone number.

I always if I remember when ordering a domain make mine so that it is private. I really can not understand why people would want their details showing to be honest for all to see and I have always been weary about allowing it as you never know who can get hold of your details with it being so freely available.
