Do you need a business license to call yourself "The Happy Commissions" as an affiliate business?

According to the CAN-SPAM act, the "from", "to", "reply to", and routing information must be accurate and identify the person or business.

I also hear I need a business license to start a business.

But not if I'm an affiliate, but I'm not sure if I really started an affiliate "business".

Where? Nigeria, UK, US, Australia --laws differ everywhere
in the USA you can go to your county office and pay less than $25 to get a DBA
Doing business as: A fictitious name
**EIN number from the IRS also --free That's a TID for that name

Like Graybeard said, depends on your country's laws. Here, in Ontario Canada, you can do business without a license, up to $30,000/yr, as long as you conduct business under your own name. Last I heard, anyway. It's been a while.

Forgot to say that you can't have a sign out, or the public coming to your door if you're not licensed.
