Do I use SSN for affiliate marketing

If I am an individual and do not have my own corporation do I use my SSN for affiliate marketing. Is it better to incorporate somehow and get a tax id number? Can I be denied a tax id number?

Lots of affiliate just use their SSN and it's no problem.
No reason to incorporate and get a tax ID to run an affiliate business,
other than the potential tax and legal benefit of incorporation.

You can get an employor ID number -- otherwise known as EIN by the IRS -- for free and it's a bit safer to use than your SSN number. I finally went and did that, even though I'm just a sole proprieter. I used to work for the IRS and it's encouraged. Here's a link if you'd like to check into it or even apply online:

I got an EIN because I hate giving out my SS#, even on a secure site. For peace of mind, I would get yourself the EIN.
