Difference between SEO and PPC

SEO (search engine optimisation) is something you do on your website to make it rank well in search engine
PPC
(Pay Per Click) does what it says on the tin, you pay to buy traffic from search engine or traffic network and you pay for each click they send you.

So yes, the two are VERY VERY different, one you pay for (PPC) the other bring organic traffic to your site.

SEO can be separated into two catagories one is onsite optimization and other one is off page . On page optimization includes work on structure(designing layout), navigation, copy, meta tags and other coding tags and tweaks. Off page optimization includes link building for example directory submission, article submission, blog posting, forum posting, email marketing, testimonials, link exchange etc. SEO brings them approximately 70% of their traffic.

PPC means Pay per Click is a way for sites to appear in prominent positions on search engine results pages by paying the engine to display their results. Most search engines separate these results from the organic results, typically by placing them on a shaded background, which you can see on the top after searching for a keyword although some engines are starting to blur the line between the two. Paid results are displayed on the top of a page and in the right hand column.

PPC is not a part of SEO.
In SEO a website is optimized as per search engines whereas in PPC you just buy keywords for which you want to be rank in Sponsored results.
In PPC it does not matter your site is optimized for that particular search engine or not.

John

ppc is not use for seo because seo is a different way of web site promotion and ppc one of a techniques of advetisment......

nasic info you can keep in that ppc is just clicks and buy keywords but seo is that you do every thing manually from keyword analysis to link building

SEO and PPC are both part of SEM (search engine marketing) IMO (in my opinion). But are both opposites really, although using them together can give you good ideas for which keywords to target. PPC is probably better more for short term, SEO for long term.

Gotta love the world of acronyms :)

sorry for asking, but what's thi thread about?... I think many of us have already know how they differ from each other (SEO & PPC)...
btw, here's more info about SEO and PPC

Agree with you Stanneon that many of us know the difference between them. But we must also consider that there are also some newbies here that want to get some detailed information for any seo topic or they want to hear some opinions of other members.

Both are very different, SEO is Search Engine Optimization focus on search engine rankings while PPC is Pay Per Click, focus on search engine advertising and marketing.

Both comes under online marketting, it cannot be consider as a part of seo. both ppc and seo can work together for an effective keyword strategy.

The effects of SEO are longer lasting and cheaper than PPC. With PPC, the moment you stop your campaign the traffic dries up entirely. SEO on the other hand will continue to bring in traffic even if you stop SEO work on the site, although you will need to ensure that your SEO campaign keeps abreast of changes in the search engine algorithms.

In PPC the advertiser pays search engine for every clicks made on his advertisement by a visitor. The order of advertisement is usually placed depending on the bidding amount. This means that one who pays the highest amount is listed on the top. The ranking of PPC are more predictable and stable. For new entrants, this is a better form of advertising. Therefore, you can get high ranking of your website but only as long as you can afford to pay for PPC.

SEO is a methodological approach, which aims at bringing your site among the top ranking sites on the search engine. There are numerous factors being taken into account when do search engine optimization like link building, keyword density, and much more. This method requires hard work but in long run it outwits all other methods of SEO. One needs constantly adapt to the requirement of the search engines to reap more benefits from internet marketing.

Yes, As per me that SEO and PPC, both co-related, I meant to say that without SEo, we can't do PPC, but without PPC, we can do SEO.

that's y seo and ppc both co-related matter.

SEO basically organic thing and ppc is paid marketing for each and every immpression.
