How do you go about getting and advertising coupon codes?

They are typically added into the affiliate network interface as creative. In CJ for instance coupons are listed as one of the creative options when you go to "get links". Also many merchants include them in their affiliate newsletters.

I'd recommend asking your affiliate manager as well, in case you missed the newsletter or announcement. This is also a good way to try and negotiate exclusive coupons just for your site
