Ask Me Anything Common mistakes in English and how to correct them

I'll start:
  • To and too --toward and also are the equivalent meanings. But they sound exactly the same.
  • You and your --spellcheck says it's right your and you're --sound the same but you're means you are, a contraction.
  • Its and it's again a contraction that sounds the same it's means it is.

A few more:
  • its / it's - something belongs to someone/it is, something exists/is
  • than / then - used for comparisons, 'better than him'/time related, 'we will eat, then we can drink'
  • lose / loose - forget something somewhere, 'don't lose your keys'/something is not tight, 'a loose knot'
