Can you write HTML code by hand?

With the vast creation of scripts and generators, do any webmaster currently utilize the art of writing HTML code by hand? or is this a dying art.

I still create a lot of my HTML and CSS code by hand using EditPlus. This gives me total control and avoids the c**p all too frequently left behind by WYSIWYG tools.

Also it hones the ability to look at the code of a page and see exactly what is good and what is bad. This is a very important skill when taking on an existing site for SEO.

I use a hybrid of hand coding and WYSIWYG'ing. For the more complicated bits I use Dreamweaver, but I usually do 95% by hand. There's no beating the direct interaction with the code. You can do anything easily... the applications seem to complicate things slightly or they add frustrating little nuances that take forever to find.

It's good to see that many still code by hand... I thought I was one of the few...
