Buying an old domain.

I recently come across an old domain that had expired. Godaddy are offering the domain for $70... ok not bad... but is it worth it?

14K backlinks but the site went down around 2007 so that is a 7 year gap.

What else would I need to know before moving into something like this?

check it's pagerank if it has any pagerank... many domains that expire keep their pagerank because the hosting company that gaved it let's a page on it to be shown if someone visits, as long as domain works and show something on the page it will not lose his google PR and backlinks. doesn't matter how old it is, as older as better because older domains are better viewd by google and are consider more trustful by search engines.
