Building an Affiliate Marketing Powerhouse - Case Study

Scott over at the AffSpot blog is doing an interesting step-by-step case study. He's building a network of 25 minisites and sharing what he's doing every step of the way.

He started with a conservative goal of making $3,000 a month and decided one way to reach that goal would be to launch 25 niche mini sites. "Here?s how we?re going to do this. We?re going to hit a functional area every day til you?ve got a resource you can use. We?re going to cover discovering niches, finding offers, necessary tools, elements of minisite design, tracking performance, testing for success, and replicating success."

Each day he's blogging with his action list and progress. Here are his posts for the 1st 5 days with a summary of what each day covers.

<strong><a href="http://blog.affspot.com/2009/09/building-an-affiliate-marketing-powerhouse-part-one/">Day One</a></strong> ? Research ? Did the Math and figured out how many sites (25) to make a living (theoretically).

<strong><a href="http://blog.affspot.com/2009/09/131/">Day Two</a></strong> ? Research ? Niches and Keywords. Learned how to find localities, keywords, and offers.

<strong><a href="http://blog.affspot.com/2009/09/building-an-affiliate-marketing-powerhouse-part-three/">Day Three</a></strong> ? Planning ? CMS Tools, Domain Names, Plugins, Virtualmin, the mechanics of managing sites.

<strong><a href="http://blog.affspot.com/2009/09/building-an-affiliate-marketing-powerhouse-part-four/">Day Four</a></strong> ? Rollout ? Built first site draft, tested CMS, wrote copy, did 1 site to get the hang of it.

<strong><a href="http://blog.affspot.com/2009/09/building-an-affiliate-marketing-powerhouse-part-five/">Day Five</a></strong> - Rollout - Launched site one and two and start promoting.

Hmmm, I like the case study. It seems like a ton of work to roll out one site, do the amount of marketing he was doing, and getting ready to roll out 25 sites within a single month. I thought I did a lot of work!

One thing that I think his case study is missing is the real results. Did he ever actually hit $3000 in a month? It seems logical, but seems like a difficult workload to keep up with! :)

He's just getting started so $3,000 is the goal and I think he'll keep us updated with his results. Let's see if he hits it.
