Are You Sure That Niche is Right for You?
Daily Blog Tips
August 21, 2009

A lot of people want to make money blogging, and a most of these people will fail miserably. There are 1000 reasons why this happens (and happens so often), but I find that one of the most common reasons a blog fails is because of the subject it is about.

No, not because you picked a subject that is way over saturated. And no, not because you picked a subject that is hard to monetize. What I am talking about here is when you pick a subject that you, the writer, have no business writing about in the first place.

You see, the number of people with blogs about a subject they either have no real interest in, no real passion for, no real experience with, no real knowledge about, or any combination of the four, is, quite frankly, pretty freaking insane.

That's so true. When people pick a niche just for the money or due to keyword research, they have NO idea how hard it's going to be to keep cranking out content on a topic they have no interest or knowledge in. It becomes a chore just to blog and if your heart's not in it your readers can tell.

My advice is to choose a niche you have a good knowledge about and can come up with personal examples or experiences. People love personality. Here's a story. I got involved with a CPA company, that was using content gateways. I suddenly realized that this stuff would work very well with popular stuff like TV shows, movie sites, fan sites. But the truth is: I am not at all interested in that. If I say watched a whole season of even one of the most popular shows I am lying. So I simply chose not to enter the niche and find something I can really feel for.
I know hundreds of millions of people make loads of bucks of these sites, but I will never. You can although dominate any niche with quality, unique content.

In all my research the best Niches are in the financial world, Insurance, mortgage, stocks, and so on. It gets your the highest adsense hits. In our mortgage blog one click can get you over $6.00. It makes me laugh when people come up with small niches like something to do with pets or gardening. Dont waste your time. Again this is just my opinion,
