Hope none of you got Google slapped but if you did you are not alone. If you do affiliate PPC and especially if you use landing pages, as that's what seems to be affected the most in this update, you'd better log-in to your Adwords account and see what's up. Well actually don't log in right this second as Adwords is down for maintenance until 2 PDT.

I checked earlier and didn't see any difference. But then again I'm not doing affiliate marketing with Adwords, only have campaigns driving traffic here to 5 Star, so as a direct advertiser I would not expect problems, but I knocked on wood anyway.

Lots of people ARE having problems, primarily affiliates. Here's a round up of blogs including a great post from Kieron that offers a great SOLUTION and practical advice that will help.

Kieron's SOLUTION: <strong><a href="http://www.here.org.uk/2007/06/google-adwords-landing-pages-how-to-build-a-page-that-wont-get-banned-with-examples.html">Google AdWords Landing Pages - how to build a page that won’t get banned, with examples</a>.</strong>

Kirsty has a good overview: <strong><a href="http://www.affiliatestuff.co.uk/google/new-google-landing-page-algo-change/">New Google Landing Page Algo Change - AffiliateStuff.co.uk</a>
</strong>
James writes: <strong><a target="_new" href="http://www.insuremeblog.com/affiliate/2007/06/minor_adwords_quality_score_up.html">Minor AdWords Quality Score Updates Brings a Major Smackdown on Some</a></strong>

Ashley at Affiliate Fortune Cookie is crying: <strong><a href="http://affiliatefortunecookies.com/tips-dealing-with-the-google-algo-changes/">Tips: Dealing with the Google Algo Changes</a></strong>

Were you affected?
If so, how?
What do you plan to do about it?

My pr5 dropped to a 4..sniff, sniff. :(:( Do have an adwords account but it's kinda been sittin there for a bit til I get ready to do some more. Been saving it cos don't have much of it's credit left. Maybe I'll have to go take a look and will definitely have to read those blogs ya posted.

The Pepperjam blog has a GREAT article about this issue today
with tips for affiliates on how to boost your quality score.

"However, the real question is why are landing page affiliate arbitragers being pushed out of business?

Well, at least partially, it?s because affiliate marketers don?t build landing pages that Google likes. Here are the top five (5) reasons why I believe Google dislikes affiliate landing pages:"

This is a must read for any affiliates that use Adwords PPC.
