Affiliate recruiting and activation is a challenge for busy affiliate managers that wear so many other hats. But those 2 tasks are high priority and AMs need to learn to work smart and also make time for the all important relationship-building and motivation part of the business.

It's been awhile since I shared any golden nuggets for affiliate managers and merchants, but I have been reading and saving up some great posts, a video and a podcast about affiliate recruiting, motivation and growing a thriving affiliate program. Enjoy!

PODCAST - Strategies Session Podcast #2: Recruiting Affiliates "During the discussion, our expert guest panelists, Brook Schaaf and Stephanie Lichtenstein, help us uncover some fundamental rules of engaging a new affiliate, the importance of ?activation? vs. ?raw recruitment?, using social media for recruiting affiliates, wooing super affiliates, the role of networks for recruiting ? and the age-old adage of ?quality vs. quantity?."

VIDEO - Advanced Approaches to Affiliate Recruiting, Training & Management "This video is from Affiliate Summit West 2009. Dual presentation on advanced techniques, strategies and ideas for affiliate training and management. This enlightening, and entertaining session will help you improve and grow your affiliate program."

Become a Better Motivator by Appealing to Deep Seated Needs "Super affiliates, who are also in this business for the money, are not picking affiliate programs based on the amount of an activation bonus, or even performance bonuses interwoven into the payment structure. Most of the time they have a longer term plan on how to succeed with this or that affiliate program, and their motivation comes from the challenge, the interesting work they?re getting themselves involved in, and the opportunity for further learning and advancement."

How Networks Can Motivate Affiliates ? By Bobbi Leach (Tips also applicable to affiliate managers) "Affiliates can also be inspired by anything that can help them make more money faster and more easily. With this in mind, here are seven strategies that will energize your affiliates to sell."

Rebuilding The Foundation for Affiliate Marketing Success "Rebuilding a foundation for marketing success is all about getting back to the basics of affiliate marketing. Take a look at your current affiliates, which ones are performing? Which ones aren?t? Which of your affiliates were performing well last year, but have since fallen off the deep end? Identifying where you and your affiliates stand is step number one."

Nice one Linda, as usual you fit every thing in one box. Every link in this post is brilliant and very informative.

Motivation is one the crucial part for the affiliates too. I think affiliates are not very different than a customer for the merchants. If you treat your affiliates like your staff then you can not expect the best response because every affiliate has an option to switch to another merchant.

The more I read your posts the more I enjoy, Coz I learning with great speed in this top forum.

Cheers Lovely Star :p
