On my flag ship site my bounce rate can fluctuate between 24% to 38% depending on the week.

I also agree. In fact Matt Cutts has mentioned this in a video recently released on his YouTube channel. He was very clear that the search team at Google does not utilize the data available through the Webmaster`s Tool for ranking results.
I have downloaded the updated PDF version. Even though the information is invaluable, I was surprised more effort was not put forth to provide clean, crisp images and text. A suggestion for the next update :)
While researching I find myself lost very frequently. Data mining I also find mind numbing but very effective. I guess when it comes right down to it I look for distractions subconsciously.
I wont get anything completed with email, rss, chat apps, etc open. And it is my biggest road block.
First a bit about my situation. I am a stay at home father and am taking care of my 13 month old son. My wife is a teacher and works outside our home for approximately 7.5 hours each day (including travel time). My 2 oldest kids attend elementary school and are away for 5.5 hours each day.

It appears to me you may be missing a list. Find some content that is valuable to your audience and create a course, newsletter, free give away, something. Building your email list will ensure continued growth.
