I really dislike phpBB for their low amount of features. They never add any animations, they do not have a clean design, the software is basically outdated and it is really difficult to install plugins.
Wordpress definitely beats blogger, because it is more customizable and may even be transformed into various types of websites. A friend of mine has recently made his own game review website with wordpress.
My forum has 1,963 posts at the moment. You must know, that it is still developing and has not been started a few years ago. Also I am currently trying to add at least 25 posts per day.
I am hosting my forum on a free web hosting website and therefore there are no costs at all. I am currently getting 100 GB bandwidth, 10 GB diskspace and no ads for free!
It really depends about what they are arguing and how bad the entire situation is. As long as they are not cursing and the moderator is trying to figure out a solution, I will not warn anyone.
My guidelines are quite long and do not need to be updated for month! I only update them, if I add a completely new category with a new niche. If I need rules only for a section, then I create a topic with the guidelines and stick it into that forum.
I think it is a great thing for smaller forums to let the people know, that it is an active forum and all the questions may get answered quickly. I may try it soon again, but at the moment I am busy with other things sadly.
I always loved communicating with other people and also wanted a way of earning money on the internet. Of course it would have been easier for me, if I would have just developed products and sold them, but I have decided to open a forum. I also was a gamer at that time and the first niche was...
On two of the above listed webmaster forums I have been banned for advertising a competitive forum and one has forbidden me to post at all. Actually quite ridiculous, if you ask me!
My websites only contain White Hat content and I doubt that they will get blacklisted for some reason. I am not quite sure which type of websites Google sets on the blacklist though and for how long.
I own a forum and therefore need to add new content every day, in order to feed the search engines. I concentrate on backlinks as well, but my competitors have quite a bit of traffic and a high PR.
I tried it before, but it was very difficult for me to find any advertisers and have even lowered down the cost to only $1 per month. Unfortunately nobody was interested and since then I am using advertising networks.
I have never gotten a penalty before, but since everyone is mentioning it, I usually check my website. I always thought a penalty would result into a PR 0 and not a PR -30. How is that even possible?
I actually do not know any and only google for some, if I am bored. I also find some on various forums, such as this one, and than just type in my domain. I am keen on using PingBomb though.
Domains of course affect your website's search engine optimization. Google will definitely show .com and .net domains before indexing a .tk domain. I'd prefer using a subdomain instead.
To check my rank and onpage SEO I use WooRank. Of course I do not want to pay 49$ per month and therefore using TOR to get unlimited website checks. :)
Penguin is only a filter and the worst thing that may happen to your website is the ignoring of the backlinks. Basically penguin will filter all of the low quality backlinks and leave your site with the high quality ones.
I currently use social networks, such as Twitter and Google+ to promote my website. I have noticed a tremendous increase of visitors since then. I also have installed a plugin for my website, which will tweet every new post.
I have started with photoshop and the first images I have created were a bit "abstract". I just used random filters and took the brush to color the entire screen. I actually asked for the opinion of my friends at that time and I knew they have lied!
I have used a website builder before, but simply to see how it works and how the HTML files will look like. It definitely is junk! All of the HTML files were completely confusing and all of the pages were named as "1", "2" and other numbers. It definitely is not worth using them.
