In the Google webmaster tools under Content analysis, the homepage is showing up twice, firstly as / then index.php
I've taken index.php out of the xml sitemap and also blocked it with robots.txt
My questions are have I done the right thing and if so, should this work?
Please let me know...

Great list but should Splutt be included as the links it makes to sites are redirects and I think I read somewhere that those kind are worthless to search engines
Every time my company publishes a new website, it makes a link back to its own site. Many of the sites reside on the same server as the company website. Could this have any negative effects to search engines?
