I've found that while Google Analytics is fantastic, you should really combine that with other metric solutions like SpyFu to get a more rounded representation of your site and the competition.
WordPress is my favorite too, but I don't have the money to hire a professional coder - that's not really necessary with this CMS. I really think if you can use Microsoft Word, you can figure out WordPress.
I too recommend WordPress, but I do highly recommend adding the WordFence plugin for security. You'll be surprised at just how many people try to hack your site almost immediately.
You don't need to know anything about coding to launch a WordPress website, but it helps to check out the Text tab and review what's been generated so you can familiarize yourself with the backend code.
I second the recommendation for Ted Talks videos. I've also found Khan Academy very interesting. YouTube has helped me learn a ton of stuff too. It's amazing how many videos are there on just about everything.
WordPress is the best out-of-the-box CMS for SEO in my opinion. What I see though is a lot of WordPress sites improperly managed, for instance pertaining to the permalinks.

Attention: "role based name" email prefixes such as support, webmaster, info, contact, forum, service, affiliate, admin, traffic, partners, marketing, etc., for our member accounts are not permitted. They are acceptable for a vendor listing, but not for the member email. This is due to bulk email processors scrubbing them for delivery due to extremely high bounce rates. Please apply for membership using a personalized email prefix. Something like bob@xxxxx.com.
If we discover you signed up with a role based name we will give you only one message to change it. After 3 days your account will be removed if the email is not changed.
