If you are not using www.tinyurl.com to cloak your affiliate links you may be losing out on sales or leads! People who view your affiliate links through forum posts, emails, etc; may very well bypass your affiliate link by copy and pasting just the website url so that you do not gain from them visiting or joining the website or product you are promoting.

So right

John, great tip. I used TinyUrl for some other work i was doing for a client of mine, but never thought of it for the affiliate world. Great thinking!

Sorry I don't agree. I think tinyurls look spammy and have been so overused that people tend to ignore or avoid them.

There are much better ways to cloak your links. Like redirects.

Here is a cloaked link of mine for one of my clients.

NOTE: it's not an affiliate link at all, I just use the cloaking software to track my outbound links.

http://www.5staraffiliateprograms.com/AMWSO (nice and clean)
goes to http://www.amwso.com/amwso_clients.php

It could as easily be www. yoursite .com/greenwidget
cloaking www. greenwidget .com/xyz?abc/affiliateid123456

I just posted about a video teaching how to do php redirects and then there are also htaccess redirects and several other types that use your own domain instead of something funky link tinyurl.
