It depends if the blog has content that will make me pause, maybe something controversial

IMO, being a special requires lot of aspects such as unique and informative content, design and activeness. These are some most important aspects that needs to consider to get popular amongst other bloggers. To get popular, seo plays an important role. For me, I visit most technology blogs and due to their informative and unique content and likes their activeness of taking follow-ups on each comments.

at first people look on design and content. if you have awfull or default design, you'll lose a lot of readers. but if you have an average design, readers will search for content they want. good structure of site with quality content can increase the number of your readers
