What is the main difference between nofollow and dofollow links? How does it effects the Page ranking of an website?

Google created a metric called page rank to calculate the link points. Many SEO folks refer to link points as “link juice.” The link juice flows through sites and into new sites through hyperlinks. The more reputable the site, the bigger boost of link juice the linked-to site gets.

Google removed page rank few months ago.

your DA and PA are depended upon the backlinks you are getting from other sites. Dofollow means they are giving a backlinks to your site and nofollow means not giving the link.

Nofollow is an HTML attribute value used to instruct search engines bots that a hyperlink should not influence the link target’s ranking in the search engine’s index. Nofollow links attributes do not allow search engine bots to follow link. That means if the website owner is linking back to you with nofollow attributes, it does not pass on link juice.

Those links are google follow and give high value in order to keyword ranking is called do follow links. On the other hand those links google don't follow only build for driving traffic is called no follow.

What is do follow link?
In order to understand the difference between do follow vs no follow links, we need to look at how the search engines work. Search engines, like Google, are always looking for clues on which pages are the best to feature at the top of their search result pages (SERPs). One of the things that they look at is the number of links from other sites that “point” to that page.
For example,
let’s say that there are two posts on a similar subject on separate sites. Both posts are of a high quality, well presented and full of useful information. However, one of these posts has hundreds of natural links “pointing” to it from external sites, whereas the other only has one or two.
What is no follow link ?

A no follow link is a link that doesn’t “point” to another site (no signposts). I think this is where people get confused, as people can still click onto a no follow link and get sent to another site, but in the eyes of the search engines they don’t “point” to anything. To add a no follow link to your site, simply add this HTML code where you want the link to appear.
for example

<a href=”http://my link .com’’ rel=’’nofollow’’>my anchor text here</a>

Nofollow links attributes do not allow search engine bots to follow link. That means if the website owner is linking back to you with nofollow attributes, it does not pass on link juice. Only Humans will be able to follow the links.

Nofollow is an HTML attribute value used to instruct search engines bots that a hyperlink should not influence the link target’s ranking in the search engine’s index. It is intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring in the first place. This is a concept introduced by Matt Cutts and Jason Shellen in the year 2005.

Well said all of you thanks. But what is the benefit of no-follow links stills we are working on these no-follow link sites.

Dofollow links attributes allow search engine bots to follow link. Giving us link juice and a backlink.

nofollow means google approve the link but this link is not useful for your site but dofollow is just opposite nofollow, this is approve backlink and it's help to promote your site in the search engine.

Nofollow and dofollow is link attribute..it means that whenever we use url on the website then we set these attribute on the url..if we set nofollow then search engine crawler does not crawl our link..if dofollow then its crawl.
