Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page. Use this metric to measure visit quality - a high bounce rate generally indicates that site entrance pages aren't relevant to your visitors. The more compelling your landing pages, the more visitors will stay on your site and convert. You can minimize bounce rates by tailoring landing pages to each keyword and ad that you run. Landing pages should provide the information and services that were promised in the ad copy.
In Web analytics, including Google Analytics, bounce rate is the measurement in percentage of how many Web site visitors view only one page within your Web site– this is the one page they entered the site on. These visitors view only that single page and exit the site on that same page. A high bounce rate typically indicates that the landing page isn't relevant to your visitor or you are not offering any incentive for the visitor to explore other areas and pages of your website.
Additionally, if your interested in mobile advertising or monetisation.
The bounce rate is used to setup retargeting campaigns, specially to specific sections on your LP.
Also, it allows for a "backlink" monetization option. Used ethically and adecuately, it can generate further revenue for your site. Usually, if someone leaves your LP its because the content isnt interesting for them at first sight, however if when they click back you show LPs with different content, good chances are one of the offers or services is of interest to your public and therefore allows for further engagment.
Theres also the option of popunders, which are not as intrusive as popups, and if your bounce rate is high, this can also help with monetization.
Im always refering to my experience on mobile sites
Bounce rate (sometimes confused with exit rate) is an Internet marketing term used in web traffic analysis. It represents the percentage of visitors who enter the site and then leave ("bounce") rather than continuing on to view other pages within the same site.
