Link farm is a web page which was designed to only accept incoming links, which is seen by the search engines as a form of spam. In many cases link farms will be banned from the search engines for spamming.These link farms have penalization by Google which lose their page rankings. Therefore, you have to be careful when you get connected to some sites. You do not have to claim that these connected sites or link farms but there are higher possibilities for the purposes of carrying on operations.Thus, you must ensure a proper site which resembles a link farm but it is filled up with good page rank and at that time you should not get linked to it.

As I believe link farm is a website set up with the sole purpose of increasing the link popularity of other sites by increasing the number of incoming links to those sites. They are typically made up of long lists of unrelated links. Search engines remove link farms from their directories when they find them. And many also penalize other sites that link to them.
