Some rules for contextual links (on your site)

• Link to government (.gov / .gov.uk), education (.edu / .ac.uk) and non-profit (.org / .org.uk) sites
• The link text should match or be similar to the H1 (heading) title of the page being linked to
• Schedule a broken link checker every day
• Check that sites you are linking to load fast and are mobile friendly (Google has free tools: Google PageSpeed Insights and Google Mobile Friendly Tool)
• Don't link to sites that are unhelpful to your users (lots of pop-ups, ads, spelling errors, bad web design, etc..)
