Vista and XP Service Packs Coming Soon

Microsoft is coming out with two long awaited service packs. I'm using XP,
and will install SP3 once I read up on it.

SP3 for Windows XP Home Edition is currently planned for 1H CY2008. This date is preliminary.

Vista is going to be patched as well:

SP1 for Windows Vista is planned for 1Q CY2008. This date is based on beta feedback.

I wonder what specific feedback they are referring to that made it into
their Vista SP1?

Actually, their SP1 is in "beta". Anyone want to break...er...hum...I mean,
"test" their Vista install by installing this:

Its amazing to see this "so-called" amazing unbeatable operating system (vista) already needing a service pack. Yet again Microsoft is full of its self & its laughable.

I rather go for WinXP SP3 instead of Vista, to be honest, vista is a bit slow and not that stable, and cant compatible of some of the sw i used in WinXP

Update: I installed the service pack, and i really don't notice any changes with performance of vist. Maybe i will in the long run though...

they are offering the current upgrade to developers only.. not open for all currently

I have Vista installed on my laptop whichone i bought 8-9 months back with vista license so can i upgrade it to service pack ? How ?
