Technorati Tags

This question is for those who blogs and uses Technorati.

Do you still use the Technorati tags at the end of your posts? I don't see the big 3 (JohnChow, Problogger, and Shoemoney) using them anymore and I thought it was tedious to implement.

I still use them but I'm not sure how much they help.

Technorati will still pick up on any tags within your posts and include it within their search results whether or not you link out to Technorati, another site, or your site.

That's because of the rel="tag" attribute which is included within the link itself -- the destination URL has nothing to do with it. It's considered a standard because Technorati helped to propel tagging in the blogosphere.

So, instead of focusing on giving Technorati link juice, you should focus on your own internal tagging structure and let Technorati take care of itself.

Plain English: go ahead and tag your posts, but make sure your tags point inward to your own tag pages.
