Success targeting cold traffic?

Hi guys, have any of you had success targeting cold traffic in the gambling niche? Let's say you want to target Dallas Cowboys fans and present them with a sportsbook offer.

I see sportsbook advertisers for NHL games here in Canada. So it must work.

Jim Edwards wrote in his book Copywriting Secrets that cold traffic is the most lucrative traffic temp to target but it's also the hardest to target.

Are sports fans interested in betting? Or should I target sports bettors instead (not fans)?

Thanks

That makes sense but you need to follow US federal and state laws.
Federal law requires a sportsbook to be regulated in any foreign venue. UK etc ...
States you will need to research
unfortunately illegal in Texas. Texas has banned online sports betting entirely, <<that is within the state sportsbook and bettor

many 'fans' bet on games and events

i get what you mean about being hard yo target cold traffic; but if your site is on topic; let's say sports then it isn't as cold already;
also, as Graybeard said; sports fans are more likely to bet on sports events more than non sports fans;
you just have to find a creative way of "pushing" them
