Squidoo Crackdown on Spam and Junk Lenses
by Rosalind Gardner
July 5, 2009

Squidoo?s announcement in mid-June has a lot of affiliate marketers running scared - especially those who use article or bum marketing methods and rely heavily on Squidoo for free advertising.

In the supplement to their Terms of Service, Squidoo plans to limit or remove lenses that include:

  1. Spam
  2. X-Rated or Porn
  3. Junk topics
  4. ?Overly promotional lenses?
  5. Plagiarism

I thought Squidoo already had an AM clean-up awhile back. Or was it Google penalizing Squidoo for AM pages. In any case, for some reason, Squidoo does not work for me. I'm more of a Hubpages guy, if there's such a thing.

Thanks for posting David. I blogged about this today too.

That is good news for the seo guys who are following the terms over there.
Normally, I used to get one link for my root site and about 5 links for inner links via different lens in Squidoo. All the time, I use fresh content with unique ideas but the same niche. I belive, I am in SAFE.

Yes, this is a good news. These type of lenses should be removed immediately to maintain the usefulness of squidoo lens. Actually squidoo lenses are good for SEO. They've different promotional strategies but it's true that achieving top position in Google for a squidoo lens is time consuming.
