Rules?

When you create rules on your forum do you like to keep it short and simple or make it extended and complex?

Sometimes I'll make a few complex so I can get the point across but other than that I normally keep it short and simple.

Most people don't read forum rules but they would be more likely to read the rules if there is a short version available. That's why it's always better to have both a short version and the longer more complex version of the rules.

When a new member registers and the admin sends them a welcome a message the rules should be pasted into the body of that message. A link to the complete list of rules could also be included. This at least guarantees the webmaster that the forum rules [be it the short version or the longer version] will be read by each new forum member.
