Not sure if it's easy to find "proven images", because the effectiveness of an image depends also on the trageting of your campaign.
But to leave a tip here, for me weird images such as people making faces and other similar things usually produce a high CTR. I believe it's because people are not used to them. They see ads with "normal" images all the time, so when they see one of my crazy images it grabs their attention.
