I think the functionality and the design style-wise both need a bit of work.
Problem - I select "Entertainment" from the forum category box and then click on the "Go" button to the right. Nothing happens - what does this button do? Only works if you select radio button in the "Forum Type" list. I think the "Search" and "Go" buttons should be consolidated.
Style-wise, I don't think that the site should take up the left 75% of the browser space - put it in the middle - it's what most sites are like so what people are used to and the way it is now is off-putting. Also, it makes the eye wander to the annoying skycraper banners more than they should do, becuase they are nearer the centre of the screen then they should be.
The colour scheme is a bit bland - you could maybe do with some images somewhere - maybe something in the header - just to brighten the site up.
