“Even though video ad format is not easy to make — you’ll have to create a video in some video program — I really like how a good creative can work on the tube traffic sources. Offer​

I’ve chosen an offer with not the easiest flow - a DOI offer for a dating website. But the payouts for Tier-1 were high – $5.5, so I decided to test it.

Format​

As I mentioned before, I’ve chosen an in-stream format. The Pricebox showed a nice traffic volume for this format and my GEOs.

Price​


First, my price was exactly as the Pricebox recommended. For my 3 GEOs, it was $0.71 CPM.

I’ve spent 9 days running campaigns with this price. But later with all the optimizations I made, I raised the bid up to $0.75 CPM. I did it because I started targeting certain websites and set up limits for unique users. Moreover, I needed a slightly bigger traffic volume. This is my final price:

Categories
I did not choose any category as I was already targeting all the premium sources of ClickAdilla which are adult websites.

Targets​

The GEOs for my campaign were the US, the UK, and Canada.
I’ve chosen only mobile traffic, as my offer was for mobile devices. I left the IPV6 traffic on because in Tier-1 countries there are a lot of users with IPV6.

Sources​

As for the traffic sources, I targeted all the premium websites first 9 days. Then I removed the websites that didn’t bring me clicks and conversions. My Keitaro tracker showed which websites convert better, so I decided to save my budget with this kind of optimization.
I cannot tell you which websites you should blacklist or remove, as it is all individual. But I must say that I removed all LGBT-specified sources. You can remove certain websites right in the campaign editing interface – just remove the checkbox next to the site in the list of premium sources.

Limits​

I limited my campaign to a daily budget of $30. The unique user filter was set up to 1 unique user per 60 min. Then after several days, I updated the unique users up to 1 user per 24 hours. I received fewer impressions, but much more targeted traffic.

Creatives​

The first 3 days I was using a creative with a slightly erotic video. It didn’t work well as I got zero conversions. There was a picture of a girl and an imitation of an incoming call.

Then I uploaded other creatives with more nudity – as a result, I had a much higher CTR.

The harder the creatives – the bigger my CTR. So I recommend you use more straightforward and aggressive pictures and videos.
I also tested creatives with older women, and I had quite a good result!
It is also better to use real pictures and videos, not studio ones.

In the tables above you can see all the numbers of my campaign. While the first 9 days did not bring me a lot of income, after some optimization steps I described here I’ve got the conversions I wanted. On the 16th day of running the ads, I noticed a decline in the conversion rate. So 4 days after I stopped the campaign.
