Hey Guys

This will be my first post and to me my most important question.

Is it really possible to make a good income from Affiliate marketing?, now by good I mean to live comfortably, this may mean different things to different people but to me it means being able to quit the 9-5 job and live life as I want. Now I am only 19 so my 9-5 slog probably hasnt been as long as many of you here but I want to start young and hopefully learn lessons and rule out bad habits early

I have been contemplating whether or not to start out with affiliate marketing for a long time but am having commitment issues with it all.

So any ideas?

John, it's impossible to answer. Depends on your skill set, amount of time you have, niche, luck, how much money you need to make and a bunch of other factors.

I know affiliates that make 20K a month and some that make 100K a month. But probably 90% of affiliates make under 100 a month. Most of those make zero.

I would def not quit your day job. Invest time learning from credible people, not those using high pressure tactics because they are trying to sell you some secret formula. Don't get side tracked by all the get rich quick hype.

Start with the stickies in our newbie forum then the niche forum. We have nothing to sell and just offer good advice. Dip your toes in and study a little, then go from there.

You have to operate with the mentality that you're a marketing business and that the people who pay you commissions are your customers. Then you have to figure out how to deliver that marketing product to your customers. If you do it, you'll get paid.

If you treat it like a hobby, you can make some good beer money, but it won't replace your daily income.

If you treat it like a get rich quick scheme, you'll fair poorly.

It's very possible. I know a guy from middle school that owns a BMW, Lambo and Ferrari now from 3 years of affiliate marketing. That is why I'm getting into it myself .

Hey man , Honestly I just started doing affilate marketing for a couple of months now and there are some things I can say. I'm only 20 years old and so far I'm at the point where I'm making $60+ just from one affiliate program I'm doing.

But I do Plan on joining more. But anywhere my best bet is to start a great blog site of your niche and start doing video marketing (since that what most people like to see "Videos") These tools work for me and now my income is growing

This is from one account on one affiliate site just a few minuets ago.. There are many different merchants on the site this one is from so it is only a part of the affiliate revenue from one site this year so far.

Yes you can make a lot of money, but online marketing is a business and therefore has to be run like one if you want the big bucks.

In the "good ole days" you could be an SEO, or a PPC specialist, or even an ad network specialist. Now you have to be all of them, including social if you want to grow and have stability.

You can build it while you work at your present job or place of employment and this is exactly what you need to do because it will probably take a year or so to really "Get it".

You will need the following to get a decent start:

Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert B. Cialdini Just look it up, it is a book you absolutely must have.

You will need a copy of a copywriting course, you can get some good reviews at copyblogger. They are a site that backs up what they preach when it comes to outstanding content. copyblogger.com/copywriting-course-reviews/‎ If the admins trust the link, they can make it live.

Join Lynda.com and you can learn about code, blogs, hosting and anything else you may need. That is the one site worth its salt, I promise you!

There are many good books on any subject within marketing online field, go to amazon and read the reviews. You can find some good stuff there. Never stop learning, because you have to learn at the speed of the internet, and that is fast. Most of your time should be spent reading until you understand the basics at the very least before even attempting to make money online.

Do a search for "The Richest Man In Babylon" and get the book or listen to it free on youtube. This book changed my life forever. Don't be impressed by the numbers you see in the screenshot because you can do this too...if you are willing to prepare to win big.

The facts are that the will to win means nothing, but the will to prepare to win means everything.

It is not going to happen overnight, but you can build a mini empire in just a few short years.

Linda and jcorkern have given great answers here. Our answer is as Linda said dependant upon your present mindset, your knowledge, experience, knowledge of traffic generation both free and paid for, and if you know how to create a website or blog which should focus on building your own list related to your chosen niche before sending prospects to your affiliate link.

Mindset is very important because Affiliate Marketing is a business and should be treated as such. Before choosing an affiliate product you should select a niche that you want to build your business around. You must discover if it has marketability? Research before jumping in blind.

There must be enough people searching online for answers or a solution to a problem but not getting what they want. Your job is to find it for them and help them.

People rarely go online looking for someone to give their money to. However people with a desperate need unfulfilled might eventually buy a solution from you once you have shown them you want to help instead of only putting your hands inside their wallet as most marketers are still doing?

Too many people only think about how much money they can make and forget that what they are dealing with are also people who are looking for answers and not there to spend money. Show them you have the answers, build your own mailing list and eventually some of those on your list will buy from you.

As already said by jcorkern, it could take 12 months or even longer for you to really get it and be able to have your own sustainable business making you a regular monthly income but only if you start by building your own list and only later on sending them to an affiliate website in one of your follow up autoresponder emails? The other way around will only earn you one or two one off sales a year if any?

Yes it is very possible to make a full time income from affiliate marketing

I actually did not believe it myself for a long time when I was not making a dime, actually quitting for 6 months to study and educate myself.

I learned the one major mistake I was making and I will share that here.

I was blogging away only thinking about search engine rankings and how much I could make if I got ranked #1 in the big G.

You should always focus on writing epic content that over-delivers your visitors expectations and provide as much value as possible

Do not worry about rankings and money, if you do your job and provide the best user experience and the most value, the money and rankings will come.

If I had known that when I got started I would be a millionaire now.

As everything in life, nothing is very easy, otherwise, everyone would have been doing it.

Short answer, Yes, Is it a Quick and easy thing to do.. Not necessarily.

Start small, and set reachable goals for yourself, for example think on doing a dollar in a month or so,once you are able to make a dollar, raise the bar, try to make 5 dollars in a new time boundary, then go for 10, 50, 100 and so on, the sky is the limit.

It sounds easy to say than done, but initially select a topic, a niche that you are very much familiar and comfortable with, do a very serious keyword research, build your web site, get some traffic, build backlinks and only aftr to have done all that think about monetizing it. If the site is successful, you can decide to either keep it or flip it for quick profit. Then rinse and repeat.

As you can see, all the tasks mentioned in the previous paragraph can take a serious amount of time,and mistakes done in an earlier stage carry on all the way towards the end, so keep focused, particularly in the keyword research phase.

The number one thing you have to do before you think you can make money online is you have to get into the mindset that you can. You are far from it my friend. You do not believe it can be done. That is why you asked is it really possible. Consciously you do but that's just wishful thinking. Subconsciously you don't.

So you will try and try but not make a dime. I don't care what program,business or whatever it is your doing, unless you have a clear mindset and intention it won't work. There are a lot of great resources out there that ALL successful and wealthy people have read and keep reading. Why? Because you need to start replacing the negative self doubt with positive in your Subconscious mind.

I don't want to overwhelm you so the number one book that everyone starts with is Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. You can find others by doing a search. Also earning an online income is a learning curve. You must plug into the right training in order to learn what it is you need to know. It is not about just posting a link and sitting back to watch the sales come in. It takes work, there is no magic push button either so don't fall for that. Is it hard to learn? That depends on you and you only. If you treat it like a hobby then that's how you will get paid $0. Treat it like a business and that's how you will get paid $$$. I don't mind taking the time and helping others that is what I do. I teach a lot of my students how to get out of the poverty mindset for FREE lol. Why? because I love seeing the aha moment they get. Clickbank is the biggest digital products marketplace that one can use to make hundreds to thousands of dollars per month. But there is no overnight success. One must learn and invest time in order to master everything.
