Twitter has a lot of "techy" users. Most people have their own computer and smartphones so having an account in Twitter is the best way to send messages to your friends for free.
Mobile WAP, adMob (now Google AdWords), jumptap, etc. Future is in mobile advertising no better time than now to hone your skills. There's a ton of traffic as well and if you know how to properly target on mobile you can stack bank. Social is always good in addition to ppv, especially for list building for Email and building your traffic source essentially that you can tab time and time again if you maintain a good reputation and integrity with your lists. In other words, email marketing is still a very viable channel if you know how to properly go about it.
I agree with convert2ryan. If you a budget for your marketing expenses then Google adwords or Pay-per-click advertising is the best way to gain traffic at a short span of time.
