how increase traffic

With these directories really does matter?

Some directories may not give traffic at all. It really depends on their popularity level and how many people actually go to them. Popular ones would be like yahoo, dmoz... etc. Most people submit to the small directories for PR enhancements.

hi
How can we increase traffic with directory submission. With these directories really does matter?
Any idea?

First is directories does really matters in PR and traffic at the same time, as long as it was a quality directory site. Every time your link clicked by the visitors of that site.. that was considered as traffic..:baloon:

No,it will not affect your site

Back links will increase. If we submit low PR directory then PR of our site really affected or not.

No,it will effect not effect your site ranking. If you want really traffic you must also involve in social bookmarking sites and participate in forums. Directories are used for building backlinks which leads to higher search engine ranking, but not increase in traffic

Traffic from directories are minimal, though majority of directory traffic are targeted. Directory links does not have much weight but submitting to a lot of them it will add up...

General traffic from General directories is never targeted.

Categories are for websites to be found - not to target promotion for the sites included in them

Non-specialist directories deliver low to zero traffic, the market is flooded with them and they aren't built for traffic delivery nor to service searchers. they have one goal - money!

if you want oodles of traffic, then submit to specialist sites, engines and portal type websites. but its takes work to find them and there's no other option really. If you expecting 100's of visitors from a general directory you will be disappointed bcos the owners don't have that in mind. You may get some pr value, but who trusts websites built on that crap. Ultimately you may get some serp benefit, but not traffic, you want traffic then use related websites, they are the key and always have been since the word marketing was invented.

i think directories are use for back links it's good if you want to increase your

PR as long as it is quality...

for traffic we may use bookmarking sites like digg, etc. :D

YooHee,

have you tired linking with or buying links on retailing websites? This will work out better than using social sites. People don't go to social sites to buy designer clothes, they go to chat, date and make 'friends', so why B2b companies spam/use them is beyond me - it just isn't good ROI for them when they can target so much better elsewhere.

There are sites out there that are perfect fit for your designer clothes company, but using social sites and specialist directories, isn't being smart with your marketing.

Pagerank is worthless and means nothing. It was invented by Google to aid their viral marketing toolbar, and create a frenzy of link building and get people talking about how high their PR is. End result = Google's brand keeps in people's minds and advertisers buy adwords.

Real advertisers and visitors won't judge a site's worth by PR - Traffic is always the factor when buying links/adverts, and should be your goal. A green bar does not pay the bills - advertisers will though. So goal is to get paying advertisers, NOT PR

1. Webmasters are such a small percentage of overall traffic on the web, and are ignored by real businesses - they are not the ones with the money! They only care about the next free link or spamming social sites these days, and do not spend £10k on advertising per month offering quality services to real businesses. Only reason webmasters are sought after is they are thought of as an easy catch or guaranteed sale - and are easy to manipulate and fool. Takes little knowledge to get them to buy a link bcos their desperate for profit themselves, they are not proper companies, trust me as I deal with large B2b proper companies and such a difference dealing with them and tougher to make a sale too.

2. B2b market is where the money is, real businesses that WILL pay for advertising.

There are companies who do not want to pay anything for seo, they do business without paying anything, but still their keywords are ranking good and getting more conversions. They use all those old methods and still their business are going well.Without paying they are getting.

if you are targetting a site with 2 to 3 backlink is of no use, but if you are targetting a site which has more than 50 backlink will be useful.
