but my question is this..with examples like this out there..why is it still so hard to convince management of the importance of social media and social networking..how do you win over the old school attitudes?

YOu need to get the point accross that social media is not a direct sales chanel.

The closest thing traditional business people have is Public Relations. (Even that's not a great comparison).

Unfortunately most companies just don't get it.

Well said Rob . Its hard to change old school thought all of a sudden . But they need to realize the scope and sheer reach and impact of social networking these days. Its probably only just a matter of time before they come around..
