Bottom Feeders Using Obama Stimulus Package for Bogus CPA Offers

Sorry guys but those bogus government grant offers are NOT the same as Obama's stimulus package!

President Barack Obama hasn't even been in office a full month yet and already some affiliates from the dark side of town are using him in a dishonest way to promote CPA offers. There are tons of these ads on Facebook, I only grabbed 3.

Obama Stimulus Package - Get YOUR $26,000 Check today!

The ads go to flogs (fake blogs) like this - when you click through you end up at a CPA offer like this.

This is the type of thing the FTC is going to jump ALL OVER, for false advertising. If we don't SELF REGULATE the government is going to do it for us folks! Then even the honest marketers are going to be restricted.

DM Confidential writes: The Affiliate Marketing Stimulus Package

Is the affiliate marketing the cancer of the online advertising world? Do we look for any opportunity, push it to the natural extreme and simply hope that those in charge of the resources (the advertisers and more importantly the inventory) won't notice? Or, do we simply assume that we can adapt to the environment because we have already.

If we sound critical, we'll be the first to say that we're partially jealous of those who market in a manner we haven't mastered and tell ourselves we won't because of some higher moral ground. It's equally if not more so because we plan on being in this industry for the long-run. We don't plan on making quick cash and then getting out.

Honestly, I can't say that I've ever felt the least bit jealous of sleazy scammers. I'm just happy when they're eventually caught and slapped.

Thanks for catching and addressing that part , David. I meant to comment too.

I like parts of what he said but then it sounds like we'd all do it if we could
figure out how to get away with it. Not some of us!

I saw one similar from a FB ad, that went to a lame page where the guy had made all of his own blogs comments as if it were a dialogue (all of the comments had his affiliate URL). When I tried to post a comment to ask about the legitimacy (my wife asks why I waste time with things like this), the comments were blocked. It is really a pathetic attempt at scamming people.

I assume links are allowed if they are for illustration and in no way self promotional. If not, feel free to remove it.

There will always be people doing things like this. I guess the article directories are in a bind also and strong-arming their visitors with CPA ads. Here is a link to an article directory where you can not read the "free content" they have from authors to force a CPA goal. There is only one way for a visito to read the content, and that is to completely fill out the CPA info. Membership Sites - What Features Should They Include?

How pathetic some get to try to make a buck.

The proverbial crap is hitting the fan big time on these scams tomorrow.
The FTC is cracking down and I'll be blogging it as soon as I can get more information.

The FTC had a big press conference about this and is trying to warn consumers.
Next step they will start slamming people with fines.

I heard yesterday that one of the big CPA networks pulled all their grant offers.
Smart move.

good that they are cracking down ... hopefully they flush these people out, as i imagine they are the people responsible for a lot of the cr*p that people blame on us ...

Yep I agree!

I heard one guy today say that all his networks pulled all their grant offers.
The FTC press release showed a couple examples and tracked one down to a network and showed who it was. The LA Times had the story, I need to go back to find the link.

Here it is.
