Articles Submission - How much is too much?

I am extremely new at this so bare with me. I built a content site for my niche (approx 20 articles). I have recently been turned on to this concept of article submission. There are so many different avenues to do this.

My question is? I want to get some of my articles out there to drive traffic to my site, but will sending the same article to different sites help me or hurt me? Will it put me on the map or will it over saturate my topic?

Just want to be sure before I dive in here. Any thoughts?

I don't deal with article marketing at all but several of our members do. Read some of the stickies and the 1st few threads about article submission here in the article marketing forum. You'll see the consensus is submit away, the more the merrier and not to worry about a duplicate content penalty. I think that's what most posts that I've read are saying anyway.

For starters you will get backlinks to your site. While most range in the PR1-3 range there are a few powerful PR4-6 links you can get.

More times than not the top ranking sites for a keyword goes to the one with the most links. If all things are equal and done the same, the one with the most links to it will rank higher.

Do not worry about duplicate content, it isnt true in the way most people play it off. If google knows the link is there, that is all that matters in the end. The unique layout of your website and pages will be enough to tell google you are different.

What I would do is to submit those 20 articles around to the directories. As many as you can. Most of the directories allow you to have 1-3 links to your site in the resource box, and in general I set my program for 2 links (article post robot is the program I use). You will link each one to the article in your site (using anchor text) and the other I should direct to your home page (I would use anchor text as well. This ensures that you get a link on both the article and the home page (with the home page winning out in the end). The purpose of this is just for SEO more than the traffic, but it will bring direct traffic as well.

Don't stop there, keep submitting more articles and putting more on your site. Any article you put on your site should also be submitted to the directories. A general plan I have heard is to give it enough time to be indexed by google first. These are for SEO like above.

You can follow some of the advise on these forums as well for articles you submit to the directories and how to react. There should be a sticky for that post.

You could also try press releases... depending on what you're promoting, and how newsworthy it is!

Press releases are syndicated, and they're read by LOTS of people. They also have a bit more credibility than articles in some cases.

I'm from South Africa, and I uploaded a press release to a free online service, for a past venture of mine, and I got emails from people all over the world within a few days!

That's only true if you create quality content. Authority sites will not risk their credibility by linking to low-quality content.

How do I know? Because I'm a successful article marketer, and my articles have been linked to by powerful authority sites like BusinessWeek, SiteProNews, PromotionWorld, SocialMedian and others.

It is better to use different articles for each sites, that will give you more traffic. If you can at least rewrite the articles and make sure that you are publishing different content but same concept, that is okay. Otherwise, if you are going to use the same article (I mean the same content), you may not get more traffic.

If your are using an article distribution service it will distribute your article to many other site and you will receive a lot of traffic.

If you are into SEO i don't advise you use automated softwares. Google prefers you gain back link gradually.

I also believe it would be best to re-write your articles rather than have them exactly identical to the ones on your site. I'm not exactly what that tipping point is where an article is different to Google. Maybe others with more expertise can chime in here... but I think that another possibility is to post a part 1 of an article to use for the back linking and then have part 2 on your own site and exclusive. That seems like it could meet two objectives. Getting backlinks and giving people a reason to come to your site.

However, although potentially good for SEO and traffic, such tactics may get you banned for spamming/self-promotion on some sites - check the ToS and/or rules first.

My company uses articles mainly to generate SEO's for our site and to use it to create more awareness of what we do - a payday loan company. I think using articles as a money maker can lead to a risky business, at least in my line of business. Using them to create awareness and backlinks to our site works just fine from my standpoint.

If you don't have time to manually submit all 20 articles to all of the directories, I recommend you spending some more time rewriting each article 2 times and using unique article wizard to submit the articles. It will turn the 3 versions into hundreds of versions and then will submit them to directories daily. The best part you can set the software to send 1-1000 directories a day. It's recommended 50, but I use it daily on hundreds of articles and we use 30 directories a day. We've seen traffic from these directories from just one article so I know it works. If you use a tracker on your website like hitslink it will show you were your traffic is coming and even the article the people are reading.

I like the idea of submitting all 20 articles to different directories, I would try spinning your articles. So it is not looking like duplicates all over the place. Just to be on the safe side.
