City of the Week

Every Sunday I am picking a city, state or country to honor. It started last week with New York City.

This past week marked the 30th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley. It got a lot of attention in the news because of all the people who went to Memphis, Tennessee to take part in special activities in memory of Elvis Presley. Therefore since Memphis, Tennessee was in the news a lot this past week I have selected Memphis as the City of the Week.

Here is Johnny Rivers to honor Memphis, Tennessee.

Comedy Sunday

This thread is to help all of us get away from the regular routine. Comedy is one of the best ways to get away.

Since this is Sunday and there aren't as many members around as during the week, I have a topic that would be extremely easy. Just add funny videos for others to enjoy.

The Jay Leno "Headlines" routine is popular and funny. This video has highlights featuring some of the best from his "Headlines."

How about you? Can you add some funny videos?

Oh all those animal videos just totally cracked me up.

There's no laughing that's more infectious than little babies laughing.
Here 3 of the funniest baby laughing videos.

I don't think you will ever see an actual newscast done the way this was done.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

A lot of people like to travel. Many go to where they would like and many never get to visit some of the places in the world that they would like to visit.

I don't take vacations of days off. I work 365 days a year and 366 days in leap year. But most people enjoy time off and possibly going to special places. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

My answer might sound a little strange. I have a big interest in astronomy and time. There is a lot more involved with time that most people are aware. So I would want to go to a place that was associated with one of those. I could take care of both of them with a visit to the Naval Observatory. But that isn't my first choice.

For me it would be the National Institute of Standards and Technology Time and Frequency Division in Boulder, Colorado and NIST radio stations WWV and WWVB in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Fantastic atomic clocks, time broadcasts and time signals that accurately set clocks. It really is a lot more exciting than it might sound.

I'm tired of traveling and that's one of the reasons I don't go to Summit any more. I was forced to travel all over when was in corporate management and so just don't like to any more.

I even won a sales contest from Epson (about 18 years ago) and the prize was an all expense paid 7 day tour of Japan. Now that was cool because it was an organized trip that gave you a taste of everything - from a 5 Star hotel to a tiny little Japanese Inn with Geisha girls waiting on you, to a trip on the Japanese bullet train.

I got a reputation on that trip from running up and down the 5 Star hotel halls
yelling Bonzai! every time I drank too much Saki. :p
But I digress...

If I won a trip I probably would not even take it, EXCEPT if it was to
Hawaii or Australia. Those are 2 places I have not been that I would like to visit.

Linda, this won't be the same as being there. However here are a couple of clips from portions of Hawaii and Australia. I guess you could pretend you are there.

So far I've been there once, for just a day.

Thanks for posting Nintendo.

Since you selected New York City, here is Frank Sinatra to sing what is probably the best known song about New York City. Enjoy.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

When we were children we all probably talked about what we wanted to be when we grew up. Some of the thoughts were rather wild and some of them were pretty reasonable.

Many of us do this full time. There are also many of you who have other jobs and do this when you aren't at your regular job. Some of you might have the occupation that you wanted when you grew up.

In my case I wanted to be either an astronomer or a math teacher. I have a big interest in both subjects. It is a long story as to how I ended up doing what I now do.

I wanted to be many things, however the short list included:

-a WBNA player
-the editor in chief of Vogue magazine
-a supermodel

Sadly none of these worked out, but I'm pretty happy with affiliate marketing :D

You have a magic genie lamp. You are allowed only one wish. Whatever you wish will come true. What would be your wish?

That is a good question. You can only make one wish and whatever it is, it will come true. What would be your wish.

All types of things come to mind. The difficult part is to narrow it down to just one wish. I hope we can have some fun with this one.

I have the perfect answer, so you need to come up with a different answer.

My one wish would be that every wish I ever have in the future would come true.

Hi All

I just got back from holidays but if I had one wish it would be to own a private jet so I could travel to any destination in the world.

Jamie, you can pretend this is your private jet and you are giving all of us a look inside it and taking us on a flight.
