I came across the url below on one of the members signatures here at UKWW.

The site is whos.amung.us - Showcase and they provide a widget to show how many users are online.

I really like this tool, it's small and neat. I have sent Jani a pm as I believe he was looking for something like this for his site. The widget towards the far right is the one I like.
