two affiliates...one merchant....what happens?

i'm getting ready to test out my first affiliate marketing campaign, and i had a question; i'd be grateful for any wisdom imparted :

say me and company X are both affiliates of the same merchant. say a visitor comes to my site, gets cookied, goes to company X's site, gets cookied as well, and then makes a transaction from the merchant. i imagine various affiliate solutions will deal with the scenario differently, but is there a method that is more common than others? any idea on how CJ deals with the issue?

Welcome to the 5 star forum. I've seen you over at DP. We have quite a few DP members here.

Yes you are correct. On most networks, including CJ, the last referrer gets the credit.
