Online shopping in the UK continues to surge, the latest available official data has confirmed.
The value of online sales more than doubled between 2002 and 2003, the Office for National Statistics found.
Sales rose to £39.5bn ($73.3bn) in 2003, up from just £19bn in 2002.
But during the past 10 months some popular online retailers have seen sales triple, and this Christmas even more people are set to shop online.
Uniform growth
And a growing number of traditional high street companies have added online retail sites so as not to lose sales.
The ONS survey showed that trade across the internet increased in all sectors of the economy.
For every £100 of sales over the internet, £67 was spent on physical products, the report showed, the remainder on services or downloaded music.
A separate survey in April claimed that Britons were the world's second most enthusiastic users of internet shopping after the Danes.
