So......because a situation that can only be truly labeled as 'majestic fuckary beyond my control' I've just found out that I am about to lose my main source of income and now I am scrambling to figure out how the hell I am going to pay my rent next month.

And I figured I might as well start a thread in here to try to help hold myself accountable to a better future.

So sorry to hear it, Jane! Kinda matches the storm I heard you've been having in the GTA today.

You are in an unenviable situation, that's for sure. What have you got going on currently that maybe we can help support you in?

Sounds horrible Jane, but there is support, advice and help on these forums for you. I'll be following and chipping in when i can!.

Good Luck!.

Cheers, Kane.

Good luck Jane, hope it all goes well - I'm doing my own follow along in the dojo looking for help - im sure you will get help here too :)

keep us updated on how your getting on :)

Oh my goodness, wow, what an amazing forum! Thank you so much for all your support. I must admit it was very unexpected to me since I am such a new member. You all just completely made my day. Thank you all again! :D

I want to try my luck with being a supplement affiliate for well.ca so right now I am working on a microsite (is that the right term?) of articles that help direct people to the right supplement for a wide variety of problems so that I can hopefully get well.ca to accept me as an affiliate.

I have been very inspired by the 'http://www.affiliatefix.com/f61/how-broke-swede-started-earning-online-7661/' thread so in following with his example I am going to figure out what I've done so far and then figure out what my next goal ahead is.

Done so far:

Suitable affiliate program chosen? CHECK!
Domain name acquired? CHECK!
Wordpress consultant to set up Wordpress? CHECK!

Next Goal?

The affiliate who I want to work for asks for a website address so as far as I know I have to have all my ducks in a row first before applying. So this means writing a bunch of articles as content for the microsite. :ninja:

I am embarrassed to admit that I am not exactly sure what a follow along thread is or how one would make one. o_O

Create a new thread in the Follow Along section.
Share your some discrete details, so that others can help you from their inputs.

This will keep you and other motivated.

Good Luck

It has been super slow going for me because my time has been eaten up by another work projects so I haven't had to the time put aside for affiliate marketing but I am rolling around some ideas in my mind to help with content which I think may work.

Sometimes, life gets in the way of work. :) Guess that's better than the other way around.

Sounds like right now, you're percolating and planning. That's a good thing.

Things are going way slower then I originally planned because as silly as this sounds I didn't realize that you have to have a full site up jam packed with content before you can even apply to an affiliate. It makes sense that once you get accepted as an affiliate that it is easy at that point to make more micro-niche sites, but when I was watching videos on youtube they kind of forgot to mention that actually getting accepted by an affiliate is really the most complicated part.

I've been too tired to blog or write articles the last little while but I have recommitted to myself to fill out my sites with content.

Live and learn, right? And I've definitely been learning. :D

It's a good idea, yes but not strictly necessary, I don't think. Having a site makes it easier, though. You may find it easier to make connection here and ask for help getting into a network you're interested in. There's no guarantee, of course but it could help.

Populating your site with content is a good idea, not only if you need it for network acceptance but also for your traffic and search engine results.

The two affiliates that I've been looking at Amazon and Well.ca ask for a website -- so I made the assumption that one was required. Did I get mixed up about things again?

Nope, you didn't. Sorry Jane, I was thinking CPA networks.

One way you can get into Amazon easier is to sign up and use HubPages. That's how I got my account in 2008, without a website. Again, no guarantees but I found it easy.

You are so welcome! :)

Once you've been accepted to Amazon, you can use your affiliate links on any other site/blog (within the rules - no porn, spam, blah, blah).

On HP, you can also get Kontera, ebay, Adsense, and HP's own ad system, which pays better than Adsense.
