Sales vs Marketing: Do You Know The Difference?

A couple hours ago, I was watching a video of a guy talking about online marketing and selling, and I thought to myself, "You know what? All these years I've been hearing these terms and I don't really know the difference between them!" So, I searched the internet for the answer and here's one explanation I found:

As far as I see it, marketing is a tool to boost sales. Take the case of an adnetwork in affiliate marketing for example: sales people are the one pitching advertisers for budgets, marketing people are the ones supporting the sales dept by providing them tools (pitch presentation decks, brand positioning, social content) to raise the likelihood of closing a deal.
