Nielsen/NetRatings changed rating metrics..will others too?

I understand that Nielsen/NetRatings changed their master web site popularity metric from the number of page views to the average time spent per visit. This will certainly favor those sites that use, say, compelling video's (how much higher can U-Tube go?) than some quick one-shot sales page. Will all the other rating services follow? This could be a big shot in the arm for web2.0. This will affect, at least if others follow, SEO BIG time. Will the other services follow? Is this a good or bad thing for the industry? Anyone have any ideas on how one might capitalize on this move?(OK, THAT'S what I am really looking for!);)
