Lev

Hi @Lev Mik , welcome to AffiliateFix! It's great to have you with us.

Have you begun to run campaigns yet, or are you just getting into learning mode?

Everyone has to start somewhere. Be active, ask loads of questions, take action, and be committed. That's how it gets done!

Use this forum as a mentor. It's full of members at every level of experience which makes for many balanced perspectives for a Newbie to learn from. Take the time to read through the forums here and see for yourself that the Newbies achieving success have actually dedicated themselves to success in this industry and reaping the rewards by following the advice of fellow AffiliateFix members, being dedicated to success, putting the time in, and making the necessary investments. You cannot shortcut the learning curve. It goes slower for some and it goes faster for others. Everyone has their own intellectual absorption rates, skill development pace, commitment level, and budgets.

You are a FIX'er now and that means you have the world at your feet with IM. Here are a few suggestions:

Read and learn through extensive reading in this community. Select one vertical. one tracker, and one traffic source. Learn from your fellow members here to master each one of them (a couple of months). Then you can expand and replicate your successes.

As a Newbie, you need to read, study, invest, and implement. Perseverance, dedication, and taking action are the cornerstones of the success you will obtain.

Read
Read through the various areas of the forum to learn about the types of marketing available for your new business. Make a list of all the types of marketing and take some notes along the way. Then determine which area of marketing with which you will start your journey.

Do this to select an area of marketing to start, as well, do this to select a tracker, a traffic source, and to select a vertical.

Then read up on the affiliate networks and select two to begin with that will serve your needs and the types of offers you would like to promote. Put your application in and they will call you for an interview. Be professional and be prepared to answer some questions about how you will promote offers, do you have a website, are you a Newbie, etc. Please note, if you join the Dojo, we have a thread there that can offer assistance in getting accepted to some of the networks.

Study
Now that you have selected a basis to begin, read all of the threads in this forum that relate to your initial selections so that you have a rudimentary understanding of their features and benefits.

Invest
You will require some investment. A VPS server, domains, traffic, landing pages, etc. You will need a budget for daily, weekly, and monthly expenses. This will change over time and you will need to update it often so that you know exactly what your costs and earnings are.

Implement
This is where it all starts to earn. You must now begin to implement what you have established as your foundation for your business.

Here is some advice and guidance that will help you establish your initial goals:

Make sure you complete the following first.

Every business needs:

1. a plan
2. a schedule for research, learning, and execution
3. a budget.

Remember to read through our WIKI and get to know the basics as well as some of the buzz words in the industry.

I also recommend reading the following thread:

As a Newbie, What Stops You From Getting Started

Here is a set of immediate goals:

1. Get a VPS
2. Select a vertical
3. Select a tracker
4. Select a couple of networks and get your approval
5. Select a traffic source
6. Create a schedule for researching, learning (training), and working. This is a business, treat it as such!
7. Create a budget for every expense (daily, weekly, monthly)
8. Be very active in this forum by researching, asking questions, helping others when you are able.

As well, I highly recommend you join the DOJO as it is full of great tools and contributions for successful marketers. Click the banner below to learn more.

Remember This! : Nothing has to be perfect before you start. Read & study, but invest and implement at the same time. You cannot learn all of it from reading and studying. A great deal of your learning comes from implementing!

Good Luck!

T J

The best trackers reported by our members are Voluum, AdsBridge, Thrive, and BEVO. I think FunnelFlux and TrackingDesk are worth a look as well.

For landing pages, first do some competitive research to see what landers are working best for your niche and get someone over at Fiverr, UpWork, FreeLancer, etc., to make a better version that is similar but unique. Don't skimp on landers!

You're welcome! :)

Re tips to get approved with networks....be polite, professional and honest. Don't try to BS them.

Also, if you don't receive a call from them, say in a day or two (somebody please correct me if it should be sooner), then call the network to discuss. It can show that you're eager to work with them.

Let us know how it goes. :)

Hi azgold,
So I was accepted by maxbounty! This is very good news.
I've already signed to run a campaign.... and here comes lot of questions:
1. how do you choose campaigns? what are the parameters... is just EPC/CR? how do you choose? :)
2. where can I find "killing key words for" work from home verticals? (emails submits, bizzops etc.)

thanks
Lev

5. Select a traffic source

TJ I quite understand Number 4 of the immediate goals you told Level but why the need of 1,2,3. I guess the traffic source could be ads, Social Media right?? Or are there any other forms of traffic source?? I should create a thread on this.

Here is what I posted in the other thread where you asked about this.

VPS
The reason to have a VPS is simple. A shared server is a favorite device of spammers because it's cheap and the spammer fully expects they will have their account shut down within a few days to a few weeks. They use the shared servers to send out spam mail. It is rampant. When they are sending out their spam mail, they cause the CPU's to rev up, it's called "throttling". When the servers are being throttled, anyone else on the shared server will suffer great performance declines causing their sites and pages to load very slowly and this is a problem for a marketer. Shared servers do not have load balancing on them.

In addition, you need to learn how to manage your own server in the beginning and to do this, you need (at a minimum) a VPS or a CDN. Not only will your sites load very fast, you will learn to manage your email accounts, manage the server through the cPanel, manage the server through the WHM, and all of the other areas of server management. You need this knowledge. Later on down the road, you may also have someone else manage your servers and you will have the knowledge to discuss with them your needs for server management.

A VPS is only about $30 per month and is a small investment compared to the expense of your traffic, landing pages, etc.

Vertical
Verticals are the titles given to the top tier of niches. For example, Wealth & Money, Relationships, Health & Beauty, are vertical examples in which you will drill down to a more specific and less general niche to promote and master. Promoting a niche in a vertical is what we do, it is at the core of what we do. You must learn to masterfully promote a single niche before moving onto promoting other niches. Remember, your first few months are about learning to master the basics, so once you select a niche to promote as a Newbie, don't give up on it, don't switch to another niche, stick with it until you master it. Once you learn do this, you can master any niche there after.

Tracker
You tracker is your life line. You must make your tracker your best friend. You cannot do this work, or become a master of this business, without becoming a master of your tracker!

This is a data driven business and our success depends on tracker data. It will be the single most important tool you use in this business. It is an intelligence tool that provides the data crucial to turning campaigns into profits.

As a Newbie it is important to master a single vertical niche, a tracker, and a traffic source. Just one of each in the beginning. If you try to do more than that in the beginning, you will get disoriented, confused, and overwhelmed.

So I was accepted by maxbounty! This is very good news.

That is good news, congrats! :)

1. how do you choose campaigns? what are the parameters... is just EPC/CR? how do you choose?

I'd try to find the best of both in one offer. :)

2. where can I find "killing key words for" work from home verticals? (emails submits, bizzops etc.)

So many places!

Google Keyword Planner
Moz
Keywordtool.io
WordStream
MajesticSEO
Bing Webmaster Tools
WordTracker
Ubersuggest
KeywordSpy
SEMRush
SpyFu
....more

I don't know where you're setting up your campaign but if the advertiser offers a keyword research tool, use that, too.

Have a question...
Maybe it will sound naive, but I really want to understand the logic behind...

why do I need to make another landing page (mostly for high CPA offers) when I already have a landing page of the offer.
From my understanding another landing page will lower CR because this is actually another wall to pass for an Action.
Of course a good landing page with strong UPS/EPS will make the conversion, but further step would be meeting the landing page of the offer and this point could be disappointing...

thank you
Lev
